Prostate Cancer Rally

Five Days. One Epic Outback Adventure

Cunnamulla → Innamincka → Birdsville → Boulia → Longreach → Charleville

15–20 August 2027

In 2027, the Prostate Cancer Rally is heading deep into the heart of the Australian Outback.

Over five unforgettable days, we’ll travel almost 2,400 kilometres from Cunnamulla to Charleville, taking the long way around through Innamincka, Birdsville, Boulia and Longreach.

Expect remote roads, red dirt, legendary Outback towns, spectacular scenery and plenty of laughs along the way – all while raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and support.

The Itinerary Rally 2027.

DAY 0 – SUNDAY 15 AUGUST

Cunnamulla

Our adventure begins in Cunnamulla. Arrive, settle in and explore this classic Outback town before joining us for Rally Registration and dinner.

It’s a chance to catch up with old rally mates, welcome our first-timers and get ready for the adventure ahead.

DAY 1 – MONDAY 16 AUGUST

Cunnamulla → Innamincka

We’re off! Heading west along the Adventure Way, we’ll travel through Eulo and Thargomindah and into increasingly remote Outback country.

Along the way we’ll pass historic places including Noccundra, before crossing into South Australia and arriving in Innamincka, on the banks of Cooper Creek and in the heart of Burke & Wills country, and nearby are several sites associated with the explorers’ ill-fated expedition, including the famous Dig Tree across the Queensland border.

DAY 2 – TUESDAY 17 AUGUST

Innamincka → Birdsville via Cordillo Downs

One of the great days of the rally.

Leaving Innamincka early, we’ll travel through the remote station country of Cordillo Downs before heading north to legendary Birdsville.

Our goal is to arrive in time to head out to Big Red, tackle Australia’s most famous sand dune and watch the sun set over the edge of the Simpson Desert.

A pretty special way to finish the day!

DAY 3 – WEDNESDAY 18 AUGUST

Birdsville → Boulia

We head north through spectacular Channel Country, passing through tiny Bedourie and enjoying the huge Outback views from Vaughan Johnson Lookout.

Our destination is Boulia, famous for the mysterious Min Min Light.

Keep your eyes open tonight – you never know what you might see!

DAY 4 – THURSDAY 19 AUGUST

Boulia → Longreach

Today we cross the vast Mitchell Grass Downs, travelling through some wonderfully isolated country on our way towards Winton.

We’ll pass tiny Middleton, enjoy spectacular Outback views around Cawnpore Lookout, travel through Waltzing Matilda country at Winton and finish the day in Longreach.

Tonight is all about celebrating YOU! Join us for our Awards Dinner, a fantastic night recognising your incredible fundraising efforts. There’ll be plenty of laughs, raffle prizes and some irresistible auction items up for grabs. It’s the perfect way to wrap up five unforgettable days of adventure, friendship and fundraising for a great cause!

DAY 5 – FRIDAY 20 AUGUST

Longreach → Charleville

Our final day takes us south through classic Queensland pastoral country, travelling through Barcaldine, Blackall, Tambo and Augathella before rolling into Charleville.

After almost 2,400 kilometres and five incredible days, it’s time to park the cars, celebrate the adventure and raise a glass to what we’ve achieved together.

Because behind all the red dirt, laughs and unforgettable experiences is a very important reason for being here – raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and support.

Five days. Great roads. Great mates. One very good cause.

Cunnamulla → Innamincka → Birdsville → Boulia → Longreach → Charleville

All vehicles are expected to raise a minimum of $1,500 in donations for Prostate Cancer research.

Note – Refund Policy.     Unfortunately many venues & food providers  now insist on upfront payments. In the unfortunate event of an entrant cancelling after payment of the Meals monies, the organisers will try to obtain refunds wherever possible and refund these monies back to the entrant after the event has concluded.

Floods, fire, road closures and events beyond the organisers control.    In the unlikelihood of a major change to the event Road Book caused by a road closure, fire, flood, etc all entrants in the event may be subject to additioinal expense for meals as a result of a route change, delay etc. The organisers first priority is always for safety of all entrants and to provide the event experience as originally intended.

Fundraising for Prostate Cancer

Each vehicle is required to raise a minimum of $1,500 for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Of course, you don’t have to do this on your own, most people ask their family and friends to support them. And please don’t stop at $1,500, we will have an award on the final night for our highest fundraiser. 100% of all donations go The Prostate Cancer Foundation – no expenses are deducted from these donations. We utilise the fundraising platform “funraisin” to make donations easy and receipts can be printed when donations are made.

Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) is a broad based community organisation and the peak national body for prostate cancer research in Australia. The Foundation is dedicated to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on Australian men, their partners and families recognising the diversity of the Australian community.

Why is this research so important?

  • 3,152 Australian men a year die from prostate cancer. That is 8 a day
  • 16,700 Australian men a year receive a new diagnosis. That is 45 a day
  • In early stages of prostate cancer there may be no symptoms
  • One in 6 blokes will be affected by prostate cancer by age 85
  • Around 95% of men will be alive 5 years after a diagnosis of prostate cancer – this is largely as a result of medical research
